The latest assessment by the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the fifth assessment report (AR5), was published in Stockholm this morning. The main headline was, as many had predicted, that scientists are now 95% certain that humans are the “dominant cause” of global warming since the 1950s.
It is difficult to amass the findings of one report into a single headline, so Professor Piers Forster, who researches several aspects of physical climate related to the Earth’s energy budget at the University of Leeds, took to social media outlet Twitter to post the eighteen main headlines and findings of the report. The unique method of conveying such a complex report a caused quite a stir early this morning; and the Tweets go as follows:
Even without a climatic or scientific background, I’m sure you would agree with the IPCC AR5, that global warming is unequivocal, and mainly due to the actions of humans post 1950.
